  • 1962 . . . .

I was born the 27th of February, 1962. So today I am 49. I refuse to think I am getting old (lol), but my body reminds me at times. My mind says go, go, go and my body says woe, woe, woe. I don't consider being over the hill yet because I still feel that I am trying to climb upward in my life. I searched out some information from 1962 and thought you might enjoy it. . . .

  • I was born in 1962!!

  • @seedsower - Cool, so we are like. . . . . super friends now. Thanks for the Rec.

  • Happy birthday.

So... what I'm seeing is roughly tack an extra zero on the prices and we've adjusted to today's values?

  • I love stuff like this! I remember some of this stuff.   I will have to remember to do this when my birthday rolls around.

  • @Ro_ad808 - I didn't see that but you are right.

  • @saintvi - I'm glad you liked it. I will look for yours in the future.

  • How about the Cuban crisis? That was the first thing that came to my mind. I was in college and we thought the world was going to end at any moment! (Some things never change.) Anyway, Happy Birthday to you. You are a year younger than my daughter and darn young by my standards!   Enjoy.

  • I am disappointed to see that this mini does not seem to actually show the piece of cake and candle that I wanted to send you. I hope someone bakes you a cake then. Save a piece for me!

  • Hello I followed a rec to your site and enjoyed the birthday post. Happy birthday!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Lucy_or_Ethel - Add me to your friends list if you want. Thanks for stopping by.

  • @nurseynursey - It does show me the cake when I put my pointer over it. Thank you for sending it to me. As far as I know, you will be the only one to give me a piece of cake.

  • You one year younger than me.

  • I was 11yrs old so I remember a lot of that stuff. lol

I wish I was that young again

  • Well happy birthday!  That's an interesting 'mindset' list -- I was thinking the same as Ro-ad808 -- multiply those dollar numbers by 10 and you convert 1962 prices to 2011 prices!  BTW -- are you aware of the Beloit College mindset list -- listing things that affect the mindset of each year's college freshmen (eg., this year's freshmen think of JFK as ancient history, and so forth) -- kind of interesting for those who work with HS and college students.

  • Happy birthday mr randyc.  I'm new to this site and its refreshing to see someone a bit 'older', but not old!  Myself, I'm a bit further down the road then you and I can relate to all of the things you mentioned.  Sometimes I need a break from the world we live in and I escape by watching old episodes of....Andy Griffith.  I know, lame, however, there's something to be said about a place where the pace is slooow and relationships were sweet and simple and apple pie still tasted like apples.  And there's something about the opening song that sooths the soul.  The haunting whistle and the stone skipping across the calm water is something like comfort food.

I liked your blog, and the article, And the world was mine.  Very good.  Check out my site, Urban Life, and if you like it, add a link to it to your site and I will reciprocate.  http://johnriveraurbanmusic.squarespace.com/

  • Love your outfit for the Oscars. Just want to say that this morning I held my cursor over the piece of cake I sent you long enough for the candle to burn down and I am shocked!!   Shocked, I tell you! (Not to mentioned embarrassed.) I had no idea and I feel kind of used.
But it is kind of funny.  I guess the joke's on me!!

  • Happy Birthday Dad!!!  I hope this year is a great one for you!  Keep your head up high, keep dreaming and keep moving forward.  You're a great guy with a big heart, I'm thankful for you, and all you do.  You're the best!  Love you!

By the way, creative idea with the list, I wasn't born to remember any of it though, but I like it/

  • Happy Belated Birthday! I'm a few years ahead of you.
